Mary and Her Immaculate Conception →

December 12, 2020 Jonathan Cyr

Truly loving Mary will never lessen our faith in God, or take attention away from Christ. Today’s video is focusing on the Catholic dogma dealing with Mary’s Immaculate Conception. It’s Mary’s preservation of soul that made it possible for Christ to be conceived in her through the Holy Spirit.

The School of Trust During Stormy Seas →

December 2, 2020 Jonathan Cyr
Ascension - Trust in Stormy Seas 2020-12-02.png

There is no greater message from God: He is here, with us—and he is trustworthy.

Given the turmoil of the past six months, these words are difficult for some to accept. Quarantines, social distancing, illness of friends and loved ones, loss of employment, financial instability, political and social unrest, and the death of thousands as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic have caused much suffering. In the end, though, our lives are defined by the journey from shore to shore and the tumultuous storms we encounter along the way. The call of each Christian is to find just who travels with us inside of that boat.

Raise Your Expectations: How Saints Live Differently →

November 28, 2020 Jonathan Cyr

When we read the lives of the saints, we could be inclined to think that they were way more holy than us, and that they had these extraordinary gifts that made it easy for them to become saints. It’s easy to think that becoming a saint is an unrealistic goal. But the truth is, the saints were just like us. They just chose to live differently, and we can too.

The Virtue That Takes Virtue to the Next Level →

November 21, 2020 Jonathan Cyr

If someone asked you what the most essential virtues are, you might say humility, faith, hope, or love. But have you ever heard of the virtue of magnanimity? What this virtue does is it magnifies—or makes greater—other virtues within someone. In other words, it’s to strive for excellence.

Don’t Treat Your Wife as an “Equal” →

November 18, 2020 Jonathan Cyr
TCM - Intimacy 2020-01-22.jpeg

Most marriages today are simply partnerships of convenience, instead of covenants in service. We focus on treating each other as equals instead of treating each other as Christ. Consequently, marriages are much less fruitful, less exciting and less fulfilling. And with everyone else around us treating their spouses as only equals, it’s easy to forget the profound nature of what we’ve been called to and the magnitude of the promises we’ve made in Marriage.

Humility: Key to Our Victory - Peter Herbeck →

November 14, 2020 Jonathan Cyr

How are we to find our way amidst all the chaos and darkness of these days? How are we to think about how we are supposed to live? Put on the mind of Christ. Jesus, Mary and Joseph show us the pathway to victory. Follow Jesus in His humility. He emptied Himself in service. Walk each day in service to the Father, in service to the men and women around us.

The Heartbeat of a Citizen →

November 11, 2020 Jonathan Cyr
MITM - Heartbeat Citizen 2020-11-11.jpg

For the last several months, one of the predominant emotions that I see people feeling all around me is anger. There has been immense loss related to the pandemic. There has been social and civil unrest. And when you add in the political rancor, it magnifies it all. People are angry and frustrated at how things are going in our world today.

In Chapter 4 of Matthew, we see Jesus is living in a similar time. The nation of Israel was under foreign rule, and the people were angry at the Roman occupation. Injustice was central to the system.

The Power of Praying the Rosary →

November 7, 2020 Jonathan Cyr

Fr. John Anthony speaks with Fr. Mark-Mary about the power of praying the Rosary. As he holds his Rosary made of gun metal, Fr. John Anthony tells us how the Rosary is a weapon against the powers of evil. If you don’t think you have time for the Rosary, be confident that when you do pray it Mary goes ahead of you and makes time for you to pray it.

Fathers, Don’t Tap Out →

November 4, 2020 Jonathan Cyr
TCG - Dad's Don't Tap Out 2020-11-04.jpg

The kids were out of control and so were the bills, my relationship with my wife felt strained, and I honestly didn’t think I could handle the stress at work anymore. I’ll never forget the day it all seemed to come crashing together. It looked like an ugly self-portrait, an American Gothic with me holding a pitchfork next to an unhappy spouse, the family farm up in flames. For a moment, I couldn’t decide if I wanted to engage or run away. … as challenging as fatherhood can be I don’t ever want to tap out. This is the vocation to which God has called me—and it’s beautiful and challenging and profoundly rewarding.

Joseph and Jesus the Builders →

October 28, 2020 Jonathan Cyr

Solomon built the first Temple, but Joseph, as the son of David, also built a house for the Lord, where God literally dwelt on the earth. Furthermore, Jesus, also the Son of David, but, more importantly, Son of the Father, builds a new house for the Lord, an eternal dwelling place, serving as the corner stone Himself.

This is the man who saved Jesus from Herod’s clutches, who protected Mary and Jesus and provided for them . St. Joseph is the most powerful intercessor before God, other than Our Blessed Mother Mary. Fr. Calloway describes St. Joseph and how Consecration to St. Joseph is valuable for us men today!

How I Stopped Complaining →

October 14, 2020 Jonathan Cyr
Stop Complaining 2020-10-14.jpg

When we complain, our brains release the stress hormone cortisol. Extra cortisol impairs our immune systems, making us more susceptible to illnesses, even heart disease, and stroke. Some studies suggest that the constant stress of complaining is linked to shrinkage in the hippocampus, a region of the brain that’s involved in emotional control, memory storage and recall, and learning. So complaining damages our brains and makes us sick.

Why Are We So Divided Right Now? →

October 10, 2020 Jonathan Cyr

Is it just us, or does the world seem a bit divided right now?

Human beings were not only created with a unique purpose, but also created to live in community. However, there are two things that can disrupt this call: division and distraction. Why these two?

Anchor into Hope →

IS - Anchor Into Hope 2020-10-07.jpg

My grandmother reminded me often, “One thing we can always count on in life is change.” As a child, I never quite understood what she meant. Hearing this as an adult, it sometimes exasperated me. As much as I did not want to hear her words at times, I knew they were true. Life changes.

All About Guardian Angels →

October 3, 2020 Jonathan Cyr

Angels are real, and our guardian angels may have prevented us from death or serious harm.

Since the Enlightenment, skepticism about the supernatural has caused many people to dismiss the intervention of angels, but all it takes is a little faith to see them at work.

The Lord loves us, and he gives us guides to get to heaven. Sometimes those guides even protect us in ways that leave us in wonder.
